Located thirty miles west of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area with a population of 700 residents. It has a strong agricultural based economy. Wellsburg is included in the school district of Ackley Geneva Wellsburg Steamboat Rock (AGWSR.) The town was settled in 1860 by George Wells, a prominent farmer in the Grundy County area. In 1880, George Wells gave One square mile of his land to be established as "Wells" which the town later added "burg" to its name. Wellsburg has many attactions to offer including the new Wellsburg Veterans' Memorial located in the town's city park, along with the Meadowbrook Golf Course, a 9 hole course, and the Wellsburg Municipal Pool.
Located fifteen miles west of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area with a population of 1,200 residents. With its strong agricultural community, along with its close location to Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Dike is a growing city. Dike is included in the Dike-New Hartford school district. It was founded in 1900 and named after the railroad construction engineer Chester Thomas Dike. The community was then incorporated on January 16, 1901. Dike has many different attractions to offer. The Fox Ridge Golf Course, 18 hole course complex, with a community swimming pool. Also located outside of the town is the Grundy County Lake where people can camp, hike, fish and enjoy picnics on a beautiful Iowa day.
Located in Hardin County six miles south of Ackley. It is a small community with a strong agricultural presence. It is also one of the communities included in the AGWSR school district. The small town was founded in 1881 by Nantje Bunjer, a prominent farmer in the area who settled here in the late 1850's from East Friesland, Germany. The name Cleves came from the German town of Cleve (Kleve) which is located near the Netherlands border. Cleves is also located in the heart of the Iowa River Greenbelt area, it's 42 miles of beautiful untounched lanscape. It is just a few miles North of the Sac & Fox overlook and 6 miles from scenic Pine Lake State Park.
