Ventures Newsletter - February, 2015

Sunday, March 29 – 3:00 p.m. Jim McDonough: Iowa's Own Pianist – Wartburg College

Wartburg alumnus Jim McDonough ’96 returns to campus to perform his highly acclaimed spring show, filled with spectacular arrangements of your favorite songs from Broadway, the silver screen, big band, patriotic, inspirational, country, classical, and so much more. Steinway & Sons, the legendary pianomaker, named Jim to its worldwide artist roster in 2010. As a Steinway Artist, McDonough joins an exclusive international list of the most accomplished and discriminating performing artists. We'll bus to the campus and disembark at the door before making our way to our center seats on the main floor to enjoy this fantastic performance. Then we'll enjoy a scrumptious meal catered by the dining service for just our group before we head for home. Your fee covers it all—performance, dinner, motor coach, tax, and tips: $105 for active customers/$115 non-customers.

Thursday, April 30 – Beautiful Pella, Iowa in Springtime

We're going to savor America's beautiful Dutch treasure a few days before 150,000 other people descend on it for the annual tulip festival. We'll be able to better enjoy its many attractions and take a more leisurely pace. We'll enjoy our own visit with the actual Mrs. Jaarsma of the famed family bakery while we're in the historical village, where we'll also have a Dutch lunch and entertainment by costumed Dutch dancers in wooden shoes. We'll marvel at the authentic working four-story Vermeer Mill that has been made piece-by-piece in Holland and assembled in Pella by skilled Dutch craftsmen, and see much more. The fee of only $90 for active customers/$100 for others includes motor coach, tours, lunch with entertainment, tax and tips.

Thursday, May 21 – The Matchmaker – Amana, IA

Come with us on a fun day in Amana! We'll enjoy a hearty family-style mid-day meal that includes fried chicken and roast beef at the Ox Yoke Inn. Then we have a little time to check out the general store, bakery, art gallery, antiques and wine shop before heading to The Old Creamery Theatre to enjoy the romantic comedy “The Matchmaker.” Professional busybody Dolly Levi has more than a few potential lovers who need a little push toward the altar. She's got her work cut out for her as she plots and plans a course to bring true happiness to everyone, including the matchmaker herself. Rated G. Your fee of $115 for active customers/$130 for non-customers covers the luxury motor coach, meal, show, and all tips.
